Cygnet Potato Breeders Ltd based in Milnathort, Scotland and Cambridge, England, is the new owner of the former PBI Cambridge Potato business. We are part of a long established family owned agricultural business based in Scotland.

We currently operate the UK's largest British controlled breeding programme and we have the exclusive rights to many popular UK varieties

such as Saxon, Maris Bard, Carlingford, Rocket, Caberet, Navan, Admiral, Shula, Sierra and Midas.

As merchant growers supplying the merchant trade and with over 20,000 tonnes of seed production per year, we can offer a portfolio that has varieties suitable for processing / pre-pack / table / salad and the first early market.

As is common with most UK bred varieties, our portfolio consists of mainly white skinned / white-cream flesh varieties. We are now looking for agents in many parts of the world for our existing and future varieties.

Our company strategy is to initially supply high-grade stock from Scotland that is then multiplied in the target country. We would like to licence production to our agent who would then return an annual royalty based on tonnage sold. Unlike some competitors, we do not insist that new seed is purchased each year from Scotland, but we are willing to supply any shortfalls in healthy material that occasionally arise.
