Saxon is a superb tasting variety suitable for boiling and baking.
It has good texture and freedom from after cooking blackening.
Approved by all UK supermarkets, Saxon is popular with packers due to good long term dormancy, resistance to
Black dot and excellent out of store appearance.
Saxon consistently out yields Estima. If grown as an early
maincrop, it can yield similarly to Maris Piper, with a higher
proportion of tubers over 65 mm. The superb bright skin and
shallow eyes meet pre-packing and baker specifications.
Good resistance to mechanical damage and bruising also
achieve premiums in the market.
